The Silvery Sounds of Christmas

Santa Claus is coming … to town.

All over town to be fair. And no gig is bigger for the big man than at North Ipswich Reserve this Saturday night.

Mayor Andrew Antoniolli can confirm that Santa has been invited.

“I sent a letter to Santa and followed it up with an email,” he said.

“He has said production of toys is on track so he will be able to duck away from the North Pole for the night.

“He hopes to arrive in time to hear his favourite song, Jingle Bells.”

There is going to be a concert with the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale, Ipswich City Orchestra and many more performers.

The children (and let’s face it, adults too) will have the opportunity to sing along during the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Show.

Grab a copy of Saturday’s The Queensland Times for the words to all the songs.

The songs include: We Need a Little Christmas, Here Comes Santa Claus, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Sleigh Ride, All I want for Christmas is You, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, It’s the Greatest Time of the Year and Extraordinary Christmas .

The winners of the Carols Quest will perform. Chloe Chan is the junior winner and the seniors winners are a duet, Kasey-Michelle and Morgan Hann.

A Place To Call Home actor Frankie Holden will MC the evening. Wilbur Wilde will also play with the band.

A spectacular fireworks show is planned for 9pm when the night concludes.

Soak up the magic of Christmas. Bring your family, a picnic rug and some Christmas cheer.

Food trucks will be operating and you can also purchase glow sticks with the proceeds going to charity. Gates open at 5.30pm and the entertainment begins at 6pm.
