Public Health Alert West Moreton: Check if you have been in any of these locations

Queensland Health has issued a Public Health Alert for West Moreton and Brisbane South after contact tracing a confirmed case from 31 July, of COVID-19.

Anyone who has been in the below locations during the relevant times are asked to monitor their health and immediately present for testing if they are experiencing any relevant symptoms .

Additionally, the Public Health Alert issued on 29 July, 2020 has been amended with an updated time relating to the Primary Medical and Dental Practice at Browns Plains on 24 July 2020 to 3.30pm until 4.30pm.

It is important to:

Stay home if you are sick

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms , no matter how mild, get tested

Stay 1.5 metres away from other people—think two big steps

Wash your hands with soap and water, or hand sanitizer

Leave the location if it is crowded.

If you have any concerns about your health, contact your doctor or contact 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) .

Common symptoms of COVID-19

Even if your symptoms are mild, you should be tested.

The most common symptoms are:

fever (or history of a fever)

cough

sore throat

shortness of breath

runny nose

fatigue

loss of taste or smell

If you are unwell with any of these symptoms, visit your closest testing clinic straight away.

Fever clinics are specialist clinics managed by Hospital and Health Services that assess people who may be infected with COVID-19.

These clinics help to keep people who may be contagious away from other areas of hospitals and health centres.

This helps to reduce the potential spread of the virus and keeps the emergency department available for emergencies.

Testing is free.

Testing and Fever Clinics in Ipswich

Mater Private Hospital Springfield – A temporary testing clinic is open Saturday 1, August until Sunday, 2 August from 8am until 4pm. It is a walk in only clinic and is located in the car park on Mercy Avenue.

Springfield Popup Testing Clinic – Western carpark of Orion Springfield Central shopping centre (behind Target) on Sirius Drive. This clinic is open all weekend from 9am until 4pm. Children under five years of age must be taken to a permanent clinic for testing. Bring food and water in case of a long wait.

Ipswich Hospital Fever Clinic – (drop-in only), Jubilee Building, near Emergency Department entrance off Chelmsford Ave, Ipswich.

Kambu – Booval (this clinic is set up for patients of indigenous heritage only) at 3, 160 Brisbane Rd Booval.

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology – Dedicated COVID-19 centre, patients must present with a valid request form at Unit 2, 10 Churchill St (corner Warwick Rd) Ipswich.

Booking available from 6.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday excluding public holidays and from 6.30am until 11am on Saturdays. Bookings are not required.

Health Matters Karalee GP Respiratory Clinic – Anyone wishing to be seen at the respiratory clinic needs to make an appointment. Council monitoring situation closely

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said Ipswich City Council is aware of latest developments with the new COVID-19 cases in south east Queensland.

“At this stage, all council facilities in Springfield and surrounding suburbs remain open,” she said.

“A fever clinic has been set up at Orion Springfield Central shopping centre and is open from Thursday until Sunday (between 9am and 4pm) and residents who have symptoms or are concerned are urged to get tested or see their GP.

“Queensland Health is the lead organisation on this matter and council is committed to supporting our community.

“We will update our community the minute we receive further advice from the State Government.”

Mayor Harding encouraged people to follow state and federal guidelines and adhere to social distancing and other measures to ensure their health and safety.

“Our major focus at the moment is on our community, customers and staff,” she said.

“We will continue to update Ipswich residents as information comes to hand.”

The Local Disaster Management Group, which is chaired by Mayor Harding, has amended its activation status to Lean Forward (prepared to support the community at short notice).
