30 years of Clean Up Australia Day
In 2019 Clean Up Australia Day celebrates 30 years since its founder and chairman Ian Kiernan shared a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard of Sydney Harbour
Since then it has become the nation’s largest community-based environment event and one that Ipswich City Council is proud to support again this year.
Nationwide volunteers have donated millions of hours of time and effort to clean up unwanted rubbish in their local community.
The concept of cleaning up now extends to dedicated days for schools and businesses.
Ipswich City Council is planning a competition on Instagram with the hashtag #cuadipswich.
Random winners will be chosen after the three clean up days with Bunnings vouchers on offer.
More competition details will be released later this month.

• Business Clean Up Day – Tuesday February 26
• Youth and Schools Clean Up Day – Friday March 1
• Clean Up Australia Day – Sunday March 3
