Start date set for new bus route for Ripley Valley and Springfield Central
The countdown is on to the start of the city’s newest bus route.
Translink confirmed this week the first services on route 531 in the Ripley Valley will begin Tuesday, 29 January.
The new route was announced in November last year.
It will connect with trains at Springfield Central station and buses at Yamanto Shopping Village with stops at the following locations:
Springfield Central station and Orion Shopping Centre
Providence Harmony Crescent
Providence Splash ‘n’ Play
Ripley Town Centre
Ecco Ripley
Yamanto Village
Translink has held a series of information displays in the lead-up to the route opening, with upcoming sessions planned for the following locations:
Saturday, 19 January: 9am-4pm, Ripley Town Centre
Sunday, 20 January: 9am-2pm, Splash ‘n’ Play, Providence
Monday, 21 January: 3pm-8pm, Ripley Town Centre
Wednesday, 23 January: 6am-9am, Springfield Central station
Sunday, 27 January: 9am-2pm, Splash ‘n’ Play, Providence
Monday, 28 January: 9am-2pm, Splash ‘n’ Play, Providence
The new service has been welcomed by state MPs Jennifer Howard and Charis Mullen.
Member for Ipswich Ms Howard has previously said the route is “great news for all those who live, work and visit this rapidly growing district”.
Member for Jordan Ms Mullen said it would also improve parking conditions at Springfield Central station.
“I welcome the new route for our community,” she said.
“This new service will help relieve some of the car parking pressure currently being felt at Springfield Central station by giving residents driving in from Ripley and Yamanto another option to link to public transport infrastructure in this growing corridor.”
