A mega highway service centre with a service station, fast food outlets, hotel and truck depot has been approved for Haigslea.
It is planned for the north western part of land at 1942-2056 Warrego Highway and will cover about 25 acres of the almost 100-acre site.
The site is currently vacant and has previously been used for grazing.
Ipswich City Council has granted approval for the following:
Service station with a shop not exceeding 100 square metres in GFA and caretaker residence
Two cafe/food tenancies
Five fast food tenancies
Car wash
Truck wash
Truck depot/park
Motel with 50 rooms and an associated restaurant

EMAAAS Pty Ltd plans to construct the development over eight stages.
Construction of the service station, caretaker residence and food outlets as well as a car wash with associated dog wash will be the focus of early stages.
Associated works to provide access to the Warrego Highway and new internal private roads are also part of the early stages.
A truck wash, truck depot capable of parking 25 vehicles and a motel with 50 rooms, gym area and associated restaurant will make up the later stages.

“Given the Warrego Highway is a key trucking route this will be an easy stopping point where trucks can access amenities, but also where trucks/trailers can be parked/stored for extended periods without having these parked by drivers within suburban areas,” the application noted.
“There is parking for caravans as part of the motel. This is to allow people with caravans to stop and stay at the motel. It is not intended this operate as a caravan park.”
A total of 392 parking spaces have been planned over the entire site.
