Ipswich residents can engage in the decision-making process regarding council strategies, policies and services as both observers and contributors to Ipswich City Council public meetings, with the calendar for meetings in 2026 released.

Finance and Governance Committee Chairperson Councillor Paul Tully said council’s elected representatives will gather for public meetings throughout the year.

“Decisions regarding the policies and initiatives benefitting Ipswich residents are discussed and determined at council’s monthly ordinary meetings,” Cr Tully said.

“These meetings are an integral part of our civic duties and form a part of the democratic process.

“Importantly, they are open to be attended by members of the public, as well as being live-streamed online in the interests of transparency. There are also avenues for public participation including via presentations and petitions.

“Meetings for our committees – Infrastructure, Planning and Assets; Finance and Governance; Economic and Cultural Development; Community and Sport; and Environment and Sustainability – are usually held the week prior to ordinary meetings. During these meetings, committee members consider and adopt recommendations which are discussed and decided on at council ordinary meetings.

“Council ordinary meetings are held on Thursdays and tend to be set towards the end of each month.

“In June, we plan to hold a special meeting for the adoption of the Annual Plan and Budget. This meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, 30 June, comes in addition to the June ordinary meeting five days earlier.

The calendar of meetings is available here .

“The final meeting of the year is set for 10 December.
