Ipswich City Council closures on national day of mourning

Some council facilities and services will not be available on Thursday 22 September, the public holiday for a national day of mourning to observe the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Essential services will continue on the one-off public holiday.

The memorial public holiday for Queen Elizabeth II is being observed in Ipswich and there will be a lot of closures.

However, council will continue to provide essential services including waste collection services, recycling and refuse stations will remain open and council’s emergency call centre will continue operating.

The Animal Management Centre will also be open from 10am to 5pm.

Council’s after-hours emergency call centre will continue to operate 24 hours a day through the usual customer service number 3810 6666.

The following council services will close for the public holiday:

All Ipswich Libraries

Ipswich City Council customer service centre – 1 Nicholas Street.

Ipswich Art Gallery

Ipswich Civic Centre

Ipswich Visitor Information Centre

Fire Station 101

Queens Park Nursery

Queens Park Education Centre

Nerima Gardens

Council-run school holiday activities

All council swim centres excluding Orion Lagoon which will be open as normal

Any non-urgent matters can be logged at any time through the online service portal on council’s website at ipswich.qld.gov.au
