A sneak peek behind the blue wrap at the Rosewood Library

2019-11-21 · Council · Featured

The state-of-the-art library under construction at Rosewood is changing the skyline of John Street.

The new facility is taking shape alongside the character buildings of John Street on the corner of Railway Street.

Traffic changes

From this week, John Street (north of Railway Street) has been reduced to a single lance from 9am until 2.30pm Monday to Friday.

This temporary road closure is required to allow for the removal and replacement of the kerb and channel on the library frontage.

The work is expected to be completed within three weeks (7 December) subject to the weather.

Construction Update

The two-level building now has the structural steel in place for the roofing to be installed.

All of the concrete and blockwork to the buildings structure have been completed.

The external and internal stud walls are complete.

The building’s plumbing and electrical services are also progressing.

Over the next few weeks residents will see further progress on the shell of the building with the building construction expected to be completed in the next two months.

After that fit-out works are expected to commence in the new year.

The construction of the Rosewood Library is a joint initiative of Ipswich City Council and the Queensland Government.
