This is a report concerning the communications, engagement and activation activity undertaken and planned for the Nicholas Street Precinct. In early October, the Communications and Engagement Branch was tasked with the creation and delivery of the launch program for the Nicholas Street Precinct, with activation to commence on Saturday 28 November and run through to Sunday 20 December, with daily activities planned.

4. Designation of Nicholas Street Mall

4. Designation of Nicholas Street Mall

With the redevelopment of the Nicholas Street Precinct, the boundaries of the previous Ipswich City Mall are now no longer accurate.

This means that Council cannot effectively manage and regulate the precinct such as the ability to prohibit smoking and other activities.

This report seeks a Council resolution to approve the inclusion of a notation on the planning scheme zoning maps to properly define the area of the proposed Ipswich Central mall.

RECOMMENDATION

That Council resolve to approve the inclusion of a notation on the planning scheme zoning maps to define the area of the proposed Nicholas Street mall.

B. That a report listing the pros and cons of the proposed options be considered at the Council Ordinary meeting scheduled for 26 November 2020.

This is a report concerning the Councils consideration of the establishment of the Safe City Advisory Group as recommended at the Ipswich Central Redevelopment Committee No. 2020 (05) of 15 October 2020 and adopted at the Council Ordinary Meeting dated 22 October 2020.

A. That Council endorse the creation of the Safe City Advisory Group.

B. That Council determine the membership of the Safe City Advisory Group.
