The Inland Rail project is a Federal Government initiative, delivered through the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC). There are two sections of the Inland Rail project that traverse through the Ipswich local government area (LGA); Helidon to Calvert (H2C) and Calvert to Kagaru (C2K). The project has many impacts across Ipswich and on existing Council assets.

2. Councillor involvement in Compliance Matters
The Planning and Regulatory Services Department is responsible for managing Council's compliance programs in respect to a range of issues. This Briefing will focus on the areas of local laws, parking, development and animal management. These specific responsibilities are shared between the Development Planning Branch and the Regulatory Services Branch.
The attachments describe example scenarios that are reflective of several of the compliance matters that are regularly dealt with by Officers. They provide background in regards to the processes and legislation that guide officers in the performance of their duties and reinforce the preferred method of receiving customer requests and complaints to ensure a consistent approach across Council in dealing with these matters.

3. Electoral and Other Legislation (Accountability, Integrity and Other Matters) Amendment Act 2020
The Electoral and Other Legislation (Accountability, Integrity and Other Matters) Amendment Act 2020 has introduced new requirements and changes that will impact Councillors and local governments. The changes can be summarised as follows:
· New requirements for register of interests;
· New and clarified requirements for conflicts of interest;
· New requirements for Councillor Advisors and councillor administrative support staff;
· Provisions relating to the dissolution of a local government and administrators;
· Provisions stopping mayors from giving directions about the appointment or discipline of local government employees; and
· Changes for filling Councillor and Mayoral vacancies.
