1. Managing Sporting Organisations and Facilities across the LGA

The purpose of this Briefing Session is to provide a high-level summary of the sport and recreation assets managed by Council and the respective activation models that underpin these facilities. The session will address the types of tenure available, associated fees and charges, annual operational and capital expense, comparisons with other LGA’s, positive and negative aspects of our current activation philosophy and some examples of alternative sporting facilities and infrastructure.

MATTERS ARISING:

Councillors in attendance noted and discussed the information presented on managing sporting organisations and facilities across the LGA including a comparison to other local government areas and across sporting organisations.

Actions will be taken to update information on the investment in sport by Council in the Ipswich Local Government Area and to bring forward opportunities to better manage the differing investment across the LGA.

4. Biosecurity Plan Review

4. Biosecurity Plan Review

The City of Ipswich 2018-2023 Biosecurity Plan expires at the end of 2023 and a new plan is being prepared to replace it. The draft Biosecurity Plan integrates into the framework established through the Natural Environment Strategy and simplifies the approach to the management of invasive plants and animals within the City.

This is a briefing presentation on the report Healthy Places Healthy People - Ipswich City Walkability Study: Pilot Evaluation which is a collaboration between Queensland Health Preventative Health Branch, Office of the Queensland Government Architect, West Moreton Hospital and Health Service and the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Councillors in attendance noted and discussed the presentation in relation to the Ipswich City Walkability Study Pilot Evaluation. Councillors look forward to further information in due course on the grant funding from the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

6. Healthy Land and Water Report Card Briefing 2023 DRAFT

Healthy Land and Water (HLW) as the Regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) body, in partnership with the Department of Resources and the Department of Environment and Science, carry out an annual Ecosystem Health Monitoring Program for all the waterways across the South East Queensland region. The results of the monitoring program are announced and issued annually in the form of a waterway health report card. This briefing session will be attended by senior Healthy Land and Water Management team to present and discuss the findings of the report card, and the grades for waterways within Ipswich LGA, prior to public release.
