1. Confirmation of Minutes of the Sport and Recreation Advisory Committee No. 2026(02) of 26 March 2026

Recommendation

That the minutes of the Sport and Recreation Advisory Committee held on 26 March 2026 be confirmed.

2. Sports Field Fees and Charges, Ipswich Cricket (Ivor Marsden) and North Ipswich Reserve Masterplan

This cover report lists the following matters to be discussed at the Sport and Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting:

· Ipswich Cricket (Ivor Marsden)

· North Ipswich Reserve Masterplan

DISCUSSION – FEES AND CHARGES FOR COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL SPORT

The Advisory Committee received a presentation on the current fees and charges schedule including discounts where applicable in line with current fees and charges approved by Council.

Following on from guidance provided by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors at Annual Plan and Budget Workshops, the committee discussed the proposed differences in fees and charges to schools for school sport including for all schools in the Ipswich Local Government Area.

The committee noted that a tenure review is being undertaken by a consultant on behalf of council and that desktop research is being undertaken currently. A Councillor Briefing and Workshop Session is scheduled for 9 June 2026. The process will include consultation with the Mayor and all Councillors and with the schools and community sporting groups.

Recommendation

That the presentation on fees and charges for community and school sport be received and noted.

ACTIONS

A. Manager, Community and Cultural Services to distribute to all councillors comparative fees for sports fields from other councils.

B. Further consultation to take place with all elected representatives as part of the tenure review.

C. A councillor workshop on fees and tenure options to occur at the 9 June 2026 session.

DISCUSSION – IPSWICH CRICKET (IVOR MARSDEN) PROPOSAL

The committee discussed a proposal that had been received for the development of a Master Plan for Ivor Marsden.

The committee was advised of potential financial contributions to the costs of preparing a Master Plan for Ivor Marsen.

The committee noted that the Sport and Recreation team have advised Cricket Ipswich of the opportunity to seek council funding via the established community funding channels.

RECOMMENDATION

That the presentation on Ipswich Cricket (Ivor Marsden) be received and noted.

That it be noted that Cricket Ipswich has been advised of the opportunity to apply to Ipswich City Council for community grant funding.

DISCUSSION – NORTH IPSWICH RESERVE MASTERPLAN UPDATE

The committee was presented with updated potential configurations for the North Ipswich Reserve Masterplan.

The committee noted and discussed the updated potential configurations.

Councillor Marnie Doyle left the meeting at 1.47 pm.

RECOMMENDATION

A. That a councillor workshop on the North Ipswich Reserve Masterplan be scheduled.

B. That the technical report on athletics track options be submitted to an upcoming councillor briefing session.
